Mr. Edward Robert Maurer son of the late Edward Martin and Mary Joan Maurer was born August 11, 1959, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He attended public schools in Gastonville, PA before moving to Merritt Island, where he graduated Merritt Island High School in 1978. He served in the US Army July 1979 through June 1985. He worked for the Brevard County Mosquito Control division for 20 years before retiring in 2010. He is a member of the Redeemer Lutheran church where he has attended services since March 2003.

He was united in holy matrimony to Debra A Maurer on February 15th, 1997. Together they raised Debra's daughters, Catherine Maurer Stant and Misty Maurer Hudson. Edward also fathered, Joshua, James, and Robin Maurer from previous marriages. He also helped to raise step daughters Donna and Terri Cumbie. He was Godfather to Sabrina L Thompson. He was a proud grandfather of 16 grandchildren.
Ed was an active member of the AmVets Post 893, the Veterans Moving Wall for our fallen war heroes, and Rochelle's Boots on the Ground Care Packages Organization. As a result of his spirit and pleasant personality he was loved by many. He quietly departed this life in his sleep on October 12, 2016 at his home in Cocoa, Florida.
He loved to go fishing whenever the opportunity arose. He thoroughly enjoyed the helicopter rides, which were a part of his job and he also enjoyed long rides on his Harley Davidson motorcycle.
His life will be forever cherished by the lives of his children, in addition to his sister Rosemarie Eaton of Rockledge Florida; his sister Deborah McPhail of Ocala; and his sister Denise Stuntz of Merritt Island; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Services will be held at Brevard Memorial Park and Funeral Home located at 320 Spring Street, in Frontenac/Cocoa, Florida 32927. Viewing is at 2:00 PM inside Service is at 3:00 PM. A celebration of life will follow at the AmVets Post 893 located at 218 Hardee Lane, Rockledge, Florida.
