Barbara Carson Mulligan, 82, of Cocoa Beach, died May 18, 2017. She was a loving wife, devoted mother and Bubbe, and a nurturing teacher and counselor to many youth.

A veteran of the United States Air Force, she was born in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

She was a respected educator during her 30-year teaching career with the Brevard County Public Schools. After earning her doctorate in Educational Psychology from UCF, she worked with the children of migrant workers in coordinating their educational needs.

Barbara Carson Mulligan, 82, of Cocoa Beach, died May 18, 2017. She was a loving wife, devoted mother and Bubbe, and a nurturing teacher and counselor to many youth.

A veteran of the United States Air Force, she was born in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

She was a respected educator during her 30-year teaching career with the Brevard County Public Schools. After earning her doctorate in Educational Psychology from UCF, she worked with the children of migrant workers in coordinating their educational needs.

She was active in her community as well, advocating for her fellow educators in the Brevard Federation of Teachers and a lector at the Church of Our Saviour on Cocoa Beach.

After her retirement she continued to be active in educational concerns, as well as traveling and volunteering around the country at various national parks, including Hatteras National Seashore, Glacier National Park and Denali National Park, among others.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Gerald Francis Mulligan, her son Michael Mulligan and her brother Michael Carson. Her surviving children include Dennis Mulligan of Winter Park, Katleen Dykgraaf of Windemere and William Mulligan of New York City.
Other survivors include her sister Carolyn Tartaglio of Mays Landing, New Jersey, and her grandchildren: Ryan, Kaleigh, Nathan, Carson, and Rachel.

A funeral mass will be celebrated 23 May 2017 10:30am at Church of Our Saviour in Cocoa Beach. The family will be sitting shiva on Sunday 21 May from 2-4pm at Port Royal Condo 1700 N. Atlantic Avenue, Cocoa Beach.
