Marian Edith "Sue" Pugh, 88, passed away in Cocoa Beach, FL on Sunday March 12th, 2017, surrounded by family.
She was born June 18th, 1928 in Childress, Texas. One of nine children in a loving family, she grew up on a farm, pulling cotton by hand and doing without during hard Depression years. She had two sons: Gary Bearden by first husband Leon Bearden, and Michael Reeves by second husband Ken Reeves. Ken was in the US Air Force, and they lived in Tokyo, Japan and Syracuse, NY before he retired and they settled in Merritt Island, FL just as the space age was starting. Sue was resourceful and ran her own beauty salon in Merritt Island, later on as a single parent. She remarried in 1970 and she and husband James E. Pugh, Jr. had nearly 50 wonderful years together. He retired from NASA, she from the salon, and they had opportunity to travel and see much of the world - six of the seven continents. They built a home in Cocoa and lived there for 30+ years before moving to Cape Canaveral.
Sue is survived by her sisters Ellen Burns and Juanita Reeves, husband James E. Pugh, Jr., son Michael Reeves, step-son James E. Pugh, III and his wife Linda Lively, step-daughter Jeanne Luddeni, grand-children Michelle Reeves, Andrew Reeves, James E. Pugh IV and Christina Fleming, and six great-grand-children. She was predeceased by parents Henry and Doshia O'Daniel, six siblings and son Gary.
A service will be held Saturday March 18th at noon at Brevard Memorial Funeral Home, 5475 N US Hwy 1, Cocoa, FL 32927, with burial immediately after on-site at Brevard Memorial Park. Viewing will begin at 11:00 a.m.
